My very own and simple iPad review

Yesterday I purchased an Ipad. When I first heard about it, it got my attention but I had doubts about buying the first generation (because of the bugs and all that stuff). But when I started to see all the power of the tablet and the huge amount of applications that I could run in this thing, I didn't have to think about it any further: I wanted to buy one as I got the chance.

So I did. I made some research and a reservation, and went to pick it up yesterday. I know this will sound materialistic: The Ipad is making me happy!!!

And for the moment the main thing that is making me happy is the ebooks. Yes, I love books but I cannot buy as many as I can. When I moved to Brazil, I even got to let go more than a dozen of books the same day I took the plane. So I thought about getting a Kindle. What was my surprise when I heard about the Kindle app for iPad, which let's you buy books on Amazon.com and read it right on your iPad! And even better, I can start by downloading a sample (first chapter for instance) and for free....

I have downloaded an online Bible app that I have already used on the blackberry (try www.youversion.com) which has dozens oxf different versions and languages, reading plans, etc.... Not to mention my Facebook app (apparently not available for iPad yet), Twitter, google talk, Tweetdeck, Tumblr of course, etc....

Well all this is to tell you guys that, me not being an expert but trying to keep on being technologically updated, strongly recommend it, especially if you like tok carry lots of books - so you have more options -, music, internet and others, and you can stand to look at it in a teeny-tiny screen as a cellphone one (that includes smartphones).

As soon as get more in-depths knowledge on my brand new toy, I'll let you know!

San Fran... Up to now

Since the past two weeks have been maybe more crazy than the two previous ones, I have had hard time to write and tell you guys about how are things going. Finally, here I am, trying to share with you a little bit about this experience. For all who don't know yet, I am currently in San Francisco for training purposes. Bloomberg sent us here to get our first - but intense - training and get to actually work as soon as we finish and "graduate".

So we got here at the second weekend of july. The first "cultural shock" was the weather. As many people do (I found that out later), I came up here thinking "California + Summer = hot"... But nooo... San Francisco is a peninsula - which I didn't know either - and apparently that is one of the reasons why it is so freaking windy, especially in summer. Actually, what locals say is that the best weathers shows up no earlier than september. Big shock. So, long story short, it's cold. And I didn't come prepared at all! That's the worst part. But well, it's not the end of the world.

However, I've had the opportunity to enjoy the city. It is beautiful and interesting, and has lots of things to offer. One thing that I really love is that the office is located in the Embarcadero, where the Port of San Francisco used to be. It is a very nice place, separated from the continent by water, and has a beautiful building (The Ferry Building) where you can find some interesting stuff. Apparently, from what I've up to now, locals are very into organic food and that kind of stuff, so inside the building there's a market of several varieties of organic foods: fruits, vegetables, olive oil, cheese, coffee places, etc... I have had tasted some really good food there. For example, the Blue Bottle, a coffee place, has this amazing organic coffee. I've tried the macchiato and the mocaccino, both delicious. There's a vietnamese fast food place and I've got to say that the vegetarian spring rolls are delicious. There's also a market where they sell fruits, meat, herbs, teas, etc... and have amazing organic products from several places around the world.

Oh, I almost forgot. I've been in La Mar, a peruvian cevicheria, which is great! I've had ceviche and special rice, and loved it! I know this restaurant is kind of like a chance, so if you have one in your city and like fish/seafood, I definitely recommend you to go there. You will really enjoy it. Try the chicha morada or the passion fruit cocktail with it... Simply delicious.

An other interesting thing about my location is that there are lots of cultural centers around, like the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (SFMOMA), the Yerba Buena Center, The African Diaspora Museum, the Contemporary Jewish Museum, hmmm... And these are the ones I can remember right now... When I go, I'll post some pictures.

People around here is cool, but I think I don't have local friends yet. All my coworkers (new hires in the company) are from different states in the US and just moved here or have been here for a little while. I have a couple of friends living here but I just got the time to see one of them. Nonetheless, people in general is really nice and cool, they always offer help and things like that.

Well I think I am going to leave it up to here and will post some pictures soon. Promise.

Thanks for reading me and I'd really appreciate your comments :-)

First Brazilian post

So here's my first post from Sao Paulo. Sorry for those who don't like me writing in English, but I want my new Brazilian friends to understand it.

First I have to explain why I am in Brazil and not in Mexico anymore, since I didn't actually explained it before. I applied and got a job in Bloomberg, a leading financial information and data provided, with offices worldwide. So after all the bureaucratic, migration process, I was finally appointed to start at the end of June.
