Here is one thing about Sao Paulo that I just loooove: bakeries, or padarias, as they are called in Portuguese. And you wanna know why? It is because the concept is almost identical to the Venezuelan one, and that makes sense, padaria concept was apparently brought by Portuguese immigrants as well.
Why do I speak about such an insignificant thing as padarias? Well, for me, it's not that insignificant and, in addition to that, they are really good. It is not limited to bread. You can have drinks, fresh juices, sweets, groceries and also delicious meals, like mandioca, polenta frita, pratos quentes, etc...
Why do I talk about that? Because it has been hard beeing away from home and not speaking the language. But, all of sudden, when I get inside one of these padarias, I feel back in my beloved Caracas, smell the bread, great coffee and all the delicious - and not so healthy - things you can find in a padaria.
I will research further on the padaria concept and will definitely write about it in the coming days.
